What is Dental Biofilm?
Dental biofilm is the main etiological factor for caries, periodontal and peri-implant infections. Periodontitis can increase the risk of systemic diseases, such as cardiovascular and respiratory disease, arthritis or diabetes.
How often should I see the hygienist?
Regular good oral hygiene combined with 3- 6 monthly visits to see a hygienist who helps keep the biofilm under control. The biofilm re-establishes in 90-120 days.
How does the Airflow® work?
The Airflow unit directs a fine spray of warm water and Erythitol powder onto the surface of the teeth. The powder removes staining, biofilm and young calculus in a minimally- invasive way from all types of surfaces: enamel, dentine, soft tissues, restorations, orthodontic appliances or implant surfaces. It is non-abrasive and is pain free.Return to the Treatments page
